Persistence Over Perfection: Resilience, Action, and Choosing the Ending

March 16, 2026 799

Some leaders wait for permission.
Others decide the ending for themselves — and refuse to stop until they get there.

Aina Alive’s journey is a masterclass in persistence. Founder of Be Agile Now, global transformation leader, community builder, and author, Aina has built her career by choosing possibility over rejection and action over paralysis.

For Tiffany Odutoye, this conversation is especially powerful. Aina is not only a guest — she is a long-time collaborator, thought partner, and example of what happens when conviction meets follow-through. Listening to Aina feels energizing, honest, and quietly defiant in the best way.

Creating the Door When None Exists

Aina immigrated to Canada and quickly encountered a familiar barrier: rejection rooted not in lack of ability, but in lack of “local experience.” After hearing repeatedly that she couldn’t get a job without Canadian experience — and couldn’t get experience without a job — she made a radical choice.

Instead of giving up, she created her own opportunity.

Aina founded Be Agile Now not just as a business, but as a workaround — a way to create real experience for herself and others facing the same challenge. Ironically, soon after launching her company, she received multiple job offers, including one from a major global firm.

The lesson was clear: she was never unqualified — the system just wasn’t built for her.

Leadership Through Adaptability

Aina’s career is defined by pivots — each intentional, each aligned. From electrical engineering to nail artistry, from project management to Agile transformation, she followed curiosity and need rather than traditional progression.

Her deep understanding of Agile didn’t come from theory — it came from lived experience. She naturally gravitated toward servant leadership long before she had language for it, always positioning herself inside the work rather than above people.

This adaptability now fuels her global impact, coaching leaders and organizations through change with resilience, clarity, and humanity.

Persistence Is a Choice

One of the most compelling moments in Aina’s story is her belief that failure is never final unless you decide it is.

After years navigating immigration delays, administrative errors, and prolonged uncertainty, she reached a crossroads: walk away — or persist one more time. She chose persistence. One final call uncovered a years-old internal approval that had never been externally processed.

Within a month, she received her citizenship.

That experience cemented a lifelong truth for Aina: the ending belongs to the person who refuses to stop.

Action Over Over-Analysis

With wisdom gained over time, Aina reflects on how experience can sometimes slow us down — replacing courage with caution.

She shares that while strategy and risk analysis matter, they can become obstacles if they prevent movement. Her advice to herself now is as powerful as her advice to her younger self: sometimes you have to act first — and think through it while you’re moving.

Momentum, she believes, creates clarity.

Advice to Her 25-Year-Old Self

When asked what she would tell her younger self, Aina offers two complementary truths:

“Be more persistent about what you really want. If someone rejects you the first time, find another way — don’t change direction completely if the goal still matters to you.”

“Sometimes stop over-analyzing and just act. Think about it while you’re acting.”

It’s advice grounded in experience — and permission-giving for anyone stuck between doubt and desire.

Why Aina Alive’s Story Matters

Aina’s story reminds us that rejection isn’t instruction — it’s information. That persistence is a leadership skill. And that action creates options that over-thinking never will.

Her journey shows that when you stop waiting for doors to open and start building them yourself, the impact can ripple globally.
